Star Wars Lego Sets Are Not Just For Kids
Almost 33 years ago the original Star Wars movie opened. It was May 25, 1977, and a moment that had been anticipated by millions for months before. Kids and adults both stood in long lines waiting to see this new kind of movie. Today those same kids are adults who have the same passion for Star Wars now as they did back then. Star Wars Lego sets are a great way for yesterday’s children to pass on their love of Star Wars to their own children today.
The opening scene of Star Wars shows the Tantive IV blockade runner appearing on screen. This is the first starship from the series to appear. The 1408 piece Lego Tantive IV set has perfectly detailed every part of the ship. Princess Leia, C-3P0, R2-D2 and two rebel troop fighters come with this set that features detachable escape pods and an opening compartment that houses a transport vehicle.
The Death Star, Lego set 10188, contains 3803 pieces and includes characters and accessories from the Star Wars episodes IV and VI. This multi-level set includes a control room, a rotating turbo blaster turrets, TIE Advanced Starfighter in a hangar bay, a laser cannon, tractor beam controls, the Emperor’s Throne Room and much more. Twenty-four minifigures and droids, as well as the Dinoga Trash Compacter monster are included in this set.
The Star Wars X-Wing Fighter, set 6212, was the first Star Wars Lego set to be distributed. There are 437 pieces in this kit, which includes Wedge Antilles, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia Organa, R2-D2 and Chewbacca. In the movie, Luke Skywalker used the X-Wing Fighter to destroy the Death Star.
For hard-core Star Wars Lego fans, the 5195 piece Millennium Falcon is the largest Star Wars Lego model to date. The Millennium Falcon is 33″ long, 22″ wide and 8″ tall. It is all built to mini-scale in perfect detail. The kit includes Han Solo, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa.
These are only four of a large array of Star Wars Lego sets currently available. These sets are enjoyed by Star Wars and Lego fans of all ages, though some of the more advanced sets will need adult supervision and assistance if given as a gift to a younger child. Every collector of Star Wars memorabilia will want to include at least one Star Wars Lego set in his or her collection.
