The goal of George Lucas, as is the goal of any director, was to produce a movie that could captivate the minds in the audience, and leaving them wishing for more. His personal twist on the classical tale of a hero who overcomes another hero who has fallen from grace is the exciting futuristic setting. Like many people full of fresh talent, finding inspiration and the imagination to create compelling stories is the easiest thing to do, but finding moneyed people to support it is the hardest by far.

The smashing success of the first full feature film gave rise to many supporters who wished to see the immediate production of the sequels. The original three Star Wars movies, which are actually the last three in the six movie series, sparked greater interest in special effects. Several companies were formed for the sole purpose of making stunning and realistic effects for movie makers, including THX sound system, and Industrial Light and Magic.

Fans of all walks of life followed this spectacular saga for more than the mere entertainment value. The heroic tale of Luke Skywalker is that of a young man journeying to far off worlds while honing his skills with the ever present ethereal power, known as the Force. Each of these exotic places that he visits has a life of their own, with a rich history and culture that are so well developed, that the audience could actually feel like they too were in a foreign land.

As Luke travels throughout the universe he comes across a multitude of unique and mysterious creatures and people. All of the hero’s friends have their own individual lives and identities which are well developed during the film which make them feel more involving than is normally the case with other movies featuring multiple protagonists. Even the villain, Darth Vader, has a memorable presence as he walks down the Deathstar as his own score plays.

The first three episodes tell the tragic tale of the young Anakin Skywalker, once thought to be the savior of the universe, falls into the Dark Side and becomes Darth Vader. The tense emotions that were conveyed in these films once again called for more realistic visuals and pushed the special effects companies to a whole new high. With the finalization of these three movies, the two trilogies give the Star Wars series their complete and satisfying ending.

The entire epic saga is now available for purchase in one convenient collector’s box set that is packaged with many special features such as commentary and behind the scenes. Lucas remastered his films before he released the complete box set, replacing outdated techniques such as puppetry with advanced CGI animations. The more surprising changes were in the final scene of the spirits where Darth Vader’s image is replaced with that of the young Anakin, before his corruption.

The thrilling adventure of Star Wars an epic series can take any audience off into a distant galaxy, introducing them to creatures, devices and worlds unlike any other. Star Wars has inspired many fields, not just in the arts, but science also, to see if the imagined technologies are possible. Everyone should have the chance to experience this burst of imagination and detail, in a grand tale any adventurous spirit can relate to.
