Since the end of the millenium, The LEGO Group has been grinding out Star Wars LEGO systems and keeping fans interested and excited about the theme. Star Wars LEGO sets have been created with the intent building fans for the Star Wars franshise and LEGO systems. The LEGO Group never created LEGO systems around other licensed goods before they signed on with LucasFilms but because of the popularity of the Star Wars theme LEGO has built on this popularity by putting out even more licensed building blocks like Mickey Mouse, Sponge Bob Square Pants and Spider Man.

When LucasFilms released a new movie for the Star Wars series of films called Star Wars: The Clone Wars, LEGO fans and Star Wars fans alike were anxious to see if the LEGO Group could live up to its standards of previous Star Wars themed releases. Fans were more than happy with the new Clone Wars LEGOs as they were a good representation of the Clone Wars film.

This relatively new series of LEGO sets is doing very well and are as successful as the previous Star Wars LEGOs. Some fans thought LEGO might be hard-pressed to create new LEGO systems based on the Clone Wars because so many of the ships and characters in this movie were the same as LEGO systems already released. LEGO did not disappoint. They created a series of LEGOs that do not deviate from the movie at all and still manage to have unique minifigs and vehicles.

One of my favorite Clone Wars LEGO systems is Anakins personal starship, The Twilight. The Twilight features four Star Wars LEGO minifigures, retractable landing gear, wings that can move to a landing mode and back to a flight mode. This starship is loaded down with armament including firing flick missile and laser cannons. There is also an escape pod and a tow cable. The mini figures included in this Clone Wars LEGO set are Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, Rotta the Hutt and R2-D2. It’s a real treat when a LEGO set has plenty of minifigs.

With all of the new releases the LEGO Group has created for the Clone Wars LEGO sets there should be quite a bit of interest generated for awhile for these LEGO Systems. Lucas Films always does a fantastic job promoting. Combine that with the LEGO Groups legion of fans and you have a series of LEGO sets with plenty of momentum behind it. Expect more than a few of the Clone Wars LEGO sets to be rare collectible LEGO sets in the near future. As such it is a good idea to get on board now and pick up as many of these LEGO sets as you can!

Peter has been collecting Star Wars LEGOs for 4 years and is building on his already extensive Star Wars minifig collection.
